Most Poisonous Edible Fish


The most poisonous fish are the puffer fish of the Red Sea and Indo-Pacific region that deliver a faal toxin called tetrodotoxin, one of the most powerful nonproteinous poisons. Less than 0.004 oz (0.1 g) is enough to kill an adult person in as little as 20 minutes. In Japan, the puffer fish is served as a delicacy known as fugu-sashi. Improper preparation of this dish can cause fatal poisoning, so only sepecially licensed cooks are allowed to prepare it.
