The Slowest Fish (Yes, seahorse is a fish!)
The swimming ability of sea horses is severely limited by a rigid body structure - only their pectoral and dorsal fins can move rapidly. Sea horses propel themselves along in an erect posture, never attaining speeds of more than 0.001 mph (0.016 km/h). Incapable of swimming agaist the current, they hang on to coral and marine plants with their prehensile tails to avoid being swept away.
